INSMA Strategic Plan

Vision

The vision of INSMA is to become the driving force in the development of sport management scholarship in India.

Mission

The mission of INSMA can be divided into two distinct categories:

  1. To provide a platform for networking, knowledge creation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sport management in India.
  2. To assist in the development of sport management programs/organizations and professional preparation programs/organizations for mutual benefits and progress of sport management scholarship in India.

In order to achieve the goals and work towards the vision, the board at INSMA will establish an advisory team comprising of eminent sport management scholars and professionals from Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

One of the major strategic priorities of the next cycle is development of a world-leading academic journal to promote sport management scholarship in India.

It is evident from our research that there are academics pursuing world-leading research in sport management scholarship in an Indian context, but they are not able to publish either due to higher APC charges or lack of credibility among existing journals in India.

Our aim is to develop a journal, in association with a leading publisher and set up an editorial board comprising of eminent sport management scholars from India and abroad, which will enable in the removal of the existing barriers.

The aim is to launch the journal by the end of 2024, which will enable the journal to get an Impact Factor by the end of this strategic plan. By the end of this strategic plan, we also aim to launch INSMA's Sport Management book series, which will focus on sport management theories and concepts in an Indian context.

We have identified that the development of sport management scholarship in India depends on utilising the knowledge base of members in other international sport management societies and developing collaborations with national and international professional entities working in this space.

Leveraging strategic partnerships is key to amplifying INSMA's influence. By collaborating with professional entities, academic institutions, and scholarly communities, INSMA can tap into a broader pool of resources, knowledge, and expertise. This cooperative approach will lead to more effective and far-reaching outcomes, maximizing the organisation's overall impact.

By the end of this strategic plan, INSMA will aim to forge meaningful partnerships with national and international professional sport management entities including NGBs based in India such as AIFF, BCCI, IOA, etc. Achieving this objective will ensure that we serve as a bridge between academia and industry.

We believe that it is of utmost importance to operate our organisation in a sustainable fashion. We recognise that building our membership base is the most sustainable way of growing the organisation. Alongside that, we aim to provide equal opportunities to all members irrespective of their gender to be a part of the board, as long as they fulfill the essential requirements.

The Vice-President (ESG) will work closely with the board to set up a plan to make sure that the organisation has openness and transparency in governance, and also develop a plan to incorporate 4 more executive board members (2 males and 2 females) representing interests of our student, institutional and corporate members by end of 2024.

As a society, we will be aiming to reduce carbon footprints and maximise the social impact of our events such as conferences, workshops and networking events.
