Scope

The Sport Performance and Management Review (SPMR) serves as a dedicated platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to explore and contribute to the evolving field of sport management within the dynamic context of India with an extended focus on developing sport economies in Southeast Asia, South Asia and the world. The scope of this journal encompasses a wide array of topics, methodologies, and evidence, with the aim of advancing our understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the realm of sports management within this region. SPMR welcomes original investigations that contribute new knowledge to the field of sport management and sport psychology through theoretical development and empirical application. In addition to high quality theoretical and empirical papers that are relevant to the Indian context, the journal will publish contributions in which critical insight for sport management practice is developed from different cultural and global perspectives.

The journal will publish an annual issue per year.

Topics of Interest

  1. Sport Governance and Policy: Examination of sport governance structures in India, South Asian & Southeast Asia. Analysis of organisational policies and their impact on sports development. Comparative studies on regulatory frameworks governing sports organisations. Some focus on facilities management with empirical analysis of sustainability and environmental considerations in sport facilities.
  2. Sport Economics, Business and Marketing: Strategies for enhancing the commercial viability of sports organisations. Sponsorship and branding in the Indian, South Asian & Southeast Asian sports industry. Market trends, consumer behavior, and the economics of sports, with an extension on cultural and logistical challenges in organising sports events.
  3. High Performance Culture and Practices: Focus on innovations and best practice within these contexts for in sports analytics, performance management, talent development and coaches, grassroot sport development programs, challenges and opportunities in talent identification and nurturing, application of sport psychology in athlete development and high-performance structures.

This journal encourages submissions employing a variety of research methodologies as listed below:

  1. Empirical studies (quantitative and qualitative research)

  3. Experimental designs, and interdisciplinary perspectives
  4. Review (scoping, systematic, policy, etc)

The primary audience for the Sport Performance and Management Review (SPMR) includes academics, researchers, policymakers, sports industry professionals, and students interested in advancing knowledge and understanding of sports management in this culturally diverse and economically vibrant region for sport (India, South Asia and Southeast Asia).

Peer Review Statement

Peer review is ‘double blind’. Two reviews are sought, with reviewers providing commentary/feedback to the author(s); together with information confidential to the Editor and Editorial Administrator (and where required the Associate Editor), consisting of an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the submission on 6 criteria and a recommendation in terms of the decision for publication, revision and resubmission, or rejection. The decision to publish, require amendments or reject is based on the recommendations of the reviewers with the Editor adjudicating if a consensus has not been reached.
